This summery strawberry lemonade sangria is the ultimate hot weather drink - with fresh lemon juice, strawberry syrup, and rosé wine. It's a pretty high-key drink, with strawberries, raspberries, and mint leaves in sweetened wine, and this really brings summer to the cocktail.

Ingredients
Regular sangria is just fruit, wine, and sometimes added liquor like brandy. This recipe uses fresh lemon juice, strawberry syrup, and rosé wine for a lighter, summery twist.

Ingredient Notes and Substitutions
- Rosé wine: use white wine or sparkling white wine instead of rosé if you prefer.
- Cointreau: omit if you don't have it. Your sangria will be less boozy but it will still taste great. You can also swap in another fruity liqueur, brandy, or even vodka if you'd rather.
- Fresh berries: watermelon cubes and sliced peaches would also be lovely! And really, any summer fruit will work as long as you think it will taste good with lemon and strawberry.
Method

Step 1: start by adding fresh squeezed lemon juice to a pitcher than can hold six cups of liquid and still has enough room for fruit.
Step 2: pour in the strawberry syrup.
Step 3: add the wine and Cointreau (if using) and stir well.
Step 4: add the fruit, then top with mint leaves and stir again before serving.
Top Tips
- Use cheap wine: don't buy an expensive bottle of wine! The lemon juice and strawberry syrup add so much flavour that a cheap bottle of rosé will work just fine.
- Make a mocktail: skip the Cointreau and use an alcohol-free wine, or white grape juice. Kids love floating fruit in pretty drinks!
- Chill before serving: keep it in the fridge for a couple of hours before serving. Spending time in the fridge not only chills the strawberry lemonade sangria, but it also gives the fruit time to soak up the wine, lemon juice, and syrup.
Recipe Notes
We highly recommend taking the time to make the syrup because it mixes up so much nicer than puréed strawberries, and adds a gorgeous deep pink glow to the sangria. Though it only takes about 20 minutes to make, the syrup should cool completely before mixing, so make it the day before if you can.
If you don't want to make strawberry syrup you can leave it out. A good substitute is 1 cup of hot tap water and 1 cup of sugar mixed together. Stir until the sugar dissolves completely and then cool in the fridge. Add the plain sugar mixture to the pitcher of sangria to taste to your liking (that being said, the strawberry syrup adds a lot of flavour, and vivid colour, so don't leave it out unless you really must).
You can eat the fruit in your sangria. It's delicious, and has absorbed the flavour of the wine and other ingredients.
How to Store
Keep the sangria in the fridge for 3-4 days without the fruit added, or about 24 hours once the fresh berries have been mixed in.
